AIGA KC presents “Operation: Green Office,” a hands-on workshop that will give you the opportunity to help transform a local non-profit office into an example of sustainable design. “Operation: Green Office” will include experts in architecture from Davison Architecture and BNIM, facilities management from Facility Engineering Associates (FEA), graphic design from our very own AIGA Kansas City, as well as many creative-minded designers.

Join us on April 1st at the office of our selected non-profit: Outreach International, a humanitarian organization located in the historic Independence Square that currently works in 14 impoverished countries around the world, assisting hundreds of thousands of children, women and men to overcome the effects of poverty each year.

Registration fee is $10. Proceeds will benefit Outreach International.

Dominique Davison, AIA NCARB / LEED AP
Davison Architecture + Urban Design

Dominique Davison is passionate about her vision for a greener, healthier, built environment.  As owner of Davison Architecture + Urban Design, she has facilitated Eco-Charettes with communities and works with those who are pushing the "green" envelope.  Dominique is also a lecturer and studio critic at UMKC and the University of Kansas.

Teena G. Shouse, CFM, IFMA Fellow
Senior FM Consultant , FEA Associates, Leawood, Kansas

Teena's primary expertise is in facility management including PM, leasing and management of retail services, BPI, staff development, sustainability in FM, capital planning and budgeting, strategic client relations, and O&M.   She possesses a wealth of knowledge in FM operations and served as the Chairman of the IFMA Board of Directors.  She has and still creates and teaches facility management courses for IFMA and is a guest speaker at numerous North America and International conferences and universities.  She also serves as Deputy Chair of  the Global FM Board of Directors, a global federation of FM organizations based in Brussels, Belgium.

Kristen Long, AIA / LEED AP
Associate, BNIM Architects

Kristen has served as Project Architect, sustainable design consultant and LEED Administrator on a number of projects under the New Construction, Commercial Interiors and Existing Buildings LEED rating systems. As BNIM’s LEED Education Coordinator, she provides training and resources in response to the continuous development of the LEED program.

Ryan Jones, AIGA KC

Ryan is an independent Graphic Designer, Writer and Sustainable Design Consultant for both local and national green-minded clients. He has also been a design educator at University of Kansas and currently at Johnson County Community College, and regularly gives lectures and workshops on topics of sustainability in branding, package design, paper and print production.

5:30-6:00- Registration and mingling
6:00-6:15- Introductions
6:15-7:00- 4 groups will take part in two 30 minute brainstorm sessions, facilitated by our guest experts and AIGA KC’s sustainability committee members, to develop ideas and strategies throughout the office of Outreach International.
7:10-8:15- Groups present their findings and develop recommendations.
